Gators Coaching Staff:
We are thrilled to see our coaches return for another great season!
Chris Ianni: We are very happy to welcome back Chris Ianni as our Head Swim Coach for the 2023 season. Chris is in his 8th year leading the Gators and has a strong coaching and swimming background. Chris is a Latin & Math teacher at Upper Dublin High School, former assistant swim coach and the Head Coach for both UDHS Boys & Girls Water Polo teams. Chris developed his passion for water sports at a young age while swimming for the Buxmont Summer league and continued at North Penn High School where he was part of a PIAA State Championship Swim Team and led his Water Polo team as captain to a PA State Championship title. Chris graduated cum laude from the University of Rhode Island with a dual major in Math and Classical Studies, with a minor in Business. Chris looks forward to leading the Gators this season by encouraging the development of competitive swimming skills with an emphasis on sportsmanship, team camaraderie, and fun. Ryan McManus: Welcome back to Assistant Swim Coach Ryan McManus for her third year as a coach. Ryan is a 2020 graduate of Upper Dublin, and she swam and dove for Sunny Willow from kindergarten through high school. Ryan is passionate about helping children be their best possible selves and is studying elementary education with a minor in special education at Penn State University. While at Upper Dublin, Ryan was a student-leader in the Mini-THON club and she continues her THON efforts at PSU. Ryan is looking forward to sharing her love for all things Sunny Willow this summer and is excited to work with our swimmers, especially those who might need some extra reassurance. MaryKate Scully: Please welcome MaryKate back to our Sunny Willow Swim Club coaching staff as an Assistant Coach . MaryKate brings 12 years of Colonial Swim League experience to our staff. She is a 2020 graduate of Hatboro-Horsham and a former Hideaway Swim Club swimmer. MaryKate was on the H-H Swim Team and Mrs. Dynan and former SWSC Coach Carolyn Lyons were some of her coaches. MaryKate also played volleyball while in high school. MaryKate completed her degree in early childhood education with a minor in ASL at Bloomsburg University this spring and is student teaching in the fall. Welcome back to SWSC, Coach MaryKate!
Ashton Portnoy: We are happy to bring back Ashton as an Assistant Coach for the Gators. Ashton is joining us for his second year as a coach. Ashton swam at Sunny Willow for 10 years and graduated from Upper Dublin High School where he also swam all four years. Ashton currently studies Sports Media at Seton Hall. Ashton is excited to bring his love of Sunny Willow and passion for swimming to our team in his role as assistant coach. You might have figured out that when he isn’t studying, Ashton likes to play and watch sports as well as listen to music and spend time with friends. Welcome back to SWSC, Ashton!
Abby Rizzuto: We are excited to welcome Abby as our Head Dive Coach. Abby is new to our coaching staff and is looking forward to sharing her love of diving with our team. Abby was a four-year member of the Upper Dublin High School Swim and Dive team as a diver and swimmer. Abby began her diving career at Maple Manor where she will continue to compete this summer for her 13th summer. We look forward to watching her at the Sunny Willow vs. Maple Manor meet.
